Google has ruined Maps

Maps nav used to be good. But on a recent trip to Thailand, I lost count of the number of times it sent us on really stupid routes (round Bangkok via Rama III, rather than thru the centre, despite traffic being worse). I thought this was maybe due to route changes on Thai roads, but back in the UK, it keeps sending us off the motorway to carry on the motorway. Traffic doesn't explain the re-route. If this is AI, they have really screwed up Maps. Bad enough that I'm looking for alts.
