A Visit to Creetown's Gemrock Museum Before It's Gone

The Creetown Gemrock Museum holds a special place in local folklore. For many visitors to Wigtownshire, it is a rite of passage. For me, I finally decided it was time to make that passage myself, and I wasn't disappointed. On a Sunday afternoon, there are certainly worse ways to spend your time in Creetown. I'd often heard stories about this place, its unique style and idiosyncrasies. So I decided to do some 'digging' and 'mine' the museum. I am sorry my jokes appear to have hit rock bottom. Arriving at the Gemrock MuseumAs you arrive at the museum, you realise that it is built from granite, which gives it a great look and reminds me of Aberdeen, the Granite City. The entrance and car park have a lovely feeling of 1990s adventure nostalgia, which, as a millennial, I appreciate. Once inside, you realise that the museum is compact, full of collector's charm and split across several interesting sections: the main exhibition hall, the Professor's Study, the cave, the Prospector's Pantry…
