Self Tape – Uninvited First up tonight is a big tune from Sydney’s Stuart McNair, aka Self Tape. I’ve covered Self Tape a few times over the past couple of years, including twice this year, as he’s been releasing a series of singles in the lead-up to his second LP, Vibrations, out September 25th (that’s also my birthday, so I’m biased when I say it’s a great day for a release). The past two singles have also been club-focused, but they were both a little more left-field than this one, each incorporating some eerie or otherwise peculiar element. This one is far more of a straight four to the floor tool — and no worse for it. The vocal fragment around which the track is centered is catchy as hell, and the rhythm section does its job immaculately. Excellent stuff all around.
