AI rehashes what social media already proved about our species, which is that (in part), humans are easily convinced they suffer from problems that don’t exist, and are quick to buy into the solutions peddled to solve them. In short, we’re gullible. The disinterest from creative types in AI isn’t complicated. One reason is they know the unique ideas they strive to create aren’t assembled from a finite pool of recycled material. Creativity is largely unquantifiable, and that quality is part of the appeal. It’s fun, ineffable, magical. It’s interesting. Typing a prompt to make something that looks like every other something is boring as shit. Creative thinking can’t be commoditized, but “good enough” thinking can, and that’s what people are being convinced they need. Well done, everyone.
