needs to be shinyThe after on top and the before on the bottom. Chucked it in my drill and ran it on 220 grit sandpaper. The action not only shined it, it also removed the burr on the slot sides.hmm......Not quite done with the screws. Got the heads and slots cleaned and shiny. I cleaned up the threads on my grinder with a brass wire wheel. I had a steel wire wheel but I found it to be too aggressive and it left scratches that made shining up harder.first coatI might be able to get away with one black coat but it ain't happening with the red. 4-6 hours before recoating but I'm going to let all of it cook until the AM.2" thick oakThis is the start of a new project. I am going to make a night stand for the grandsons. It will be painted gray to match their respective dressers and bookcases. I hate to paint the oak because two faces have quarter sawn faces.
