These weeknotes are pulling into the station a little late, because I’ve been busy starting my new job! I’ve joined the crew at HotDoc, as a manager slash engineer. It’s been a great time so far! I noticed Dry Monads CI was failing in production due to version 3.0 of the json gem removing the json/add custom serialization machinery (and for good reason). I switched this over to the new JSON::Coder API and pushed up v1.11.0 of Dry Monads. I forgot to mention it last week, but we landed the styled text support in Dry CLI! I’m really happy with the collaborative process on this one (Aaron and I both contributing different things to the work) as well as the final result: a flexible and reusable styles API, plus styles that apply on a per-stream basis, allowing for e.g. my-cli 2> errors.txt to add styles stdout (going to a terminal) but not to stderr (going to a file).Adam also teased a preview this week of #% support for our Styled::Text class, which is going to make it even more…
