Twelve ways to become wealthy

Here are all the ways to become wealthy that I can think of off the top of my head, in roughly historical order. 1. Work. Figure out how to sharpen flints and attach them to sticks, thereby creating a spear. Or cook the meat that others have hunted with the spears, yielding cooked meat. (Work can create goods or provide services.) 2. Trade. If Ug is good at making spears and Oog is good at making pots, and if Ug wants pots and Oog wants spears, they can swap goods to their mutual benefit. 3. Theft. Take other people’s things. If Groo isn’t good at making spears or pots but is big and strong, he can just take Ug’s spears and Oog’s pots. (Historically this should probably be at #2 but I couldn’t persuade myself to be that cynical.) 4. Inheritance. If Groo has accumulated lots of spears and pots, then dies leaving a son Graa, then Graa has lots of spears and pots that he didn’t have to create, trade or even steal. 5. Rent. If Graa has lots of spears and pots, he can let other people use…
