Disc player woes — addendum

Well, I’d settled on keeping the little Blu-Ray player and setting it atop one of my speakers (which don’t seem to get very warm, as I guess they’re big wooden boxes filled mostly with air), so I set it up (after swapping out the long and short HDMI cables, the hardest part of the exercise since they were threaded behind the AV cabinet) and tried it out on a widescreen disc. The image was fine… but the sound kept dropping out and the playback glitched. Okay, maybe the disc was at fault, so I switched to another disc, and the same thing happened. So I guess the player is defective, and I have to return it anyway. Sigh…
