The Dying Art of Photoshop Shitposting 1 ▲ David McGee 1 hour ago · Art · hide · 0 comments When I was a wee lad -- before I grew gray and wizened in my third decade of life -- people would make shitposts using photoshop. But, every year, it seems I see fewer and fewer of them. Most visual shitposts now seem to be made by Midjourney or ChatGPT.1 And this makes me sad. It makes sense. The barrier to entry is far lower, and high-effort shitposts have always been a rare breed. I'm not sure whether AI shitposting is even wrong. I think it's scummy to have AI make art for you or to pass of its work as your own, but shitposting seems relevantly different to that. Still, I miss photoshop shitposts. They had a human charm to them which AI images lack, and they had a certain aesthetic I like. They could be ridiculous and surreal in a way very different than AI images are. And they were less prone to looking gaudy and oversaturated. But they seem to be going the way of oxen and dialup, for better or for worse. Do people still use Midjourney? I haven't used Midjourney since it came… No comments yet. Log in to reply on the Fediverse. Comments will appear here.
