It's a traditional mystery game. You interrogate suspects, search the mansion for clues, unlock a few locked doors, show every clue to every suspect, and eventually call everybody together in the Dining Room to Explain All. I mean, the mansion is a submarine and everybody was arguing in the Mess Hall before you barged in, but it's the same genre as Deadline or any millionth Sherlock Holmes game.
