Oxford has its dreaming spires, Cambridge has its spies. It was a spontaneous decision to head to Cambridge for a stroll, made the night before. I printed out a walking route map produced by the YHA which I would study on the train and a few lists of odd facts about this storied city. But my main desire was to just to drift, following the current of the streets and lanes, the quads and courtyards. And so it was. I’ll leave the facts and dates for the video – luckily I obtained a more detailed map from the Tourist Information Office with salient info about each College of the University. Throughout the day I toggled between the four maps – YHA, Official Tourist, Apple, Google – glancing really, and interested in how they all differed even in small details. The Mathematical Bridge is only shown on two of them for example. The official info makes no mention of Lord Byron keeping a pet bear in his room at Trinity College (apparently in protest at the No Dogs rule). But it does add the…
