Dean McPhee - Northern EarthBradford, UK-based guitar wizard Dean McPhee returns with a transportive/transcendent new album. As is his usual mode, Northern Earth was recorded live with no overdubs — always an impressive feat of concentration, given the long, layered compositions here. But the process isn’t really the point, it’s the result that matters. And the result is awesome. On the three tracks here, McPhee leans into a bass-heavy, dub-infused sound, while still keeping one foot in ancient britfolk zones. Dank Albion?! Maybe. This is deep stuff, burrowing into your subconscious, flowing into your dreams. Go north!
