I wanted to update you on what I’m doing and on how you can help (if you feel so inclined). One of my goals as a yoga teacher was to teach kids yoga, so serendipitously, when I returned to the States in June, there was a Kids Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in my city…at my home studio. I completed 20 hours at the end of June, and voila, I have become certified as a kids yoga teacher! While I was in Costa Rica, I thought about how inaccessible yoga seems for many people. Whether it be race, ethnicity, body size, gender, mobility, social class, or age, in the States, it seems like yoga is solely for white women. I know that’s not the truth, but those are the optics. So, I decided I was going to do my part in making it accessible to specific groups of people. I’m starting with a group that is important to me: foster youth. I reached out to Florida Support Services—an organization I’ve donated book proceeds to, as well as completed a diaper drive for—to see if there was… No comments yet.
