Where to find good coffee in Hakodate 0 ▲ Emma Goto 2 hours ago · 5 min read1052 words · Life · hide · 0 comments Hakodate is the southernmost city in Hokkaido, and also its third-largest (after Sapporo and Asahikawa). We popped by for a 2-day visit while on our recent roadtrip around Hokkaido, and I was curious to check out its coffee while we were here. Since this trip was fairly last-minute, my strategy for finding good coffee spots was to search "スペシャルティコーヒー" (specialty coffee) on Google Maps and see what pops up. We ended up visiting four independent roasters that also served pour-over coffee. As for milk-based espresso fans, unfortunately this means I don't have too many recommendations for you! But I will pop a couple more cafes down the bottom which were on my radar that I didn't get the chance to visit. Whether a store will be open during its opening hours is a bit more of a hit-and-miss in Hakodate compared to Tokyo, so I would recommend having a second store in your back pocket to visit in case the first one is closed.
