Tetris 2 + BomBliss: We have Tetris at home

I haven’t actually checked, but I’m pretty sure there are as many different versions of Tetris as there are stars in the sky by now. It’s inescapable. It’s not just on every format I can think of, or even every format every invented, it exists beyond them now, stretching out into physical space. There are countless LCD variants. Multiple board games. Pen and paper reimaginings. A whole movie. Everyone has a preferred version, even pale cave fish who will never see the sun. For some that involves the hardcore thrill of Tetris the Grandmaster’s arcade challenge. For others it’s a simple key chain thing they like to keep hanging around in case they get bored, the famous Game Boy classic for nostalgia’s sake, or the overwhelming audiovisual wonder of Tetris Effect. For me it’s Tetris 2. I’m as surprised as anyone by this strange turn of events, but I guess this just happens to be where the tetriminos have fallen for me. It’s not a childhood favourite. It’s not some grand collector’s item.…
