There is a lot in med school that I think is boring. Now, don't get me wrong. I do want to be in this field. There's literally no other job I could see myself actually having a career in. It's just that I think it's high time I accepted that there's a lot of stuff I find boring, and that I should deal with the fact that it is, in fact, boring. To me, at least. I have no love for biochemistry at all. I appreciate that it explains a lot of how the body works, but it's really just not my natural inclination. In my last year of high school, I took advanced chem with the goal of getting into med school in mind and ended up slogging through all of it, mechanism by excruciating mechanism. I did the same in college for my two short, nightmarish semesters of learning organic and biochemistry. Always on thin ice: knowing just enough that the big picture made sense, but not always enough to be able to explain the little things.
