Did Clipping Invent “The Doppler Swing”?

In 2019, Clipping released “Run For Your Life,” a song built around field recordings of cars passing while blasting bass music. I recently took a deep dive into how they made this song, why this technique fits the theme, and how the Doppler effect plays a role in the final product. TL;DR: While the Doppler effect is less noticeable with low-end frequencies like bass and drums, you can still hear a slight increase and decrease in the speed of the music as the vehicles move toward and away from the microphone.
