“AI is a monster”

I went back on Justin Gary’s Think Like A Designer podcast to ramble about the new Microscope and the strange and magical experiences of playing This Means War. We also got into a debate on AI. That’s not why I was on the podcast, but as anyone who has read my A is for Artificial post knows, I have thoughts about it. Think Like A Game Designer: Ben Robbins — Revisiting Microscope, Designing Uncomfortable Games, and the Mechanics of Shared Stories (#110) There were a lot of loose ends or claims about AI that we didn’t circle back on, because again, that’s not why I was there, but it’s an important topic so in hindsight I wish we had kept going to address them all. For example, it’s audio-only so you can’t see that I nearly did a spit-take at the idea that grok is a reliable and unbiased source of information. Hard no on that.
