Today’s recording is a movie, The Damned United. It’s one of the seemingly many biographical films written by Peter Morgan and starring Michael Sheen. In this one, Sheen plays football manager Brian Clough, and charts his brief tenure as manager of Leeds United, while also showing his earlier career at Derby County. Colm Meany plays Don Revie, who left Leeds to manage England. Timothy Spall plays Clough’s right hand man at Derby County, Peter Taylor. Jim Broadbent plays Sam Longson, Derby’s chairman. Stephen Graham plays Billy Bremner. Maurice Roeves plays his trainer Jimmy Gordon. There’s a brief appearance from Ralph Ineson as a reporter.
