Continuing the Corky-fruited scythe

It was well over a month ago we started to scythe the end meadow in Fromebridge with the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. With one thing and another we haven’t had a chance to finish off this job. There were only a small number of us, and Pete was leading a walk for the Stonehouse festival, so he had dropped off the gear in the meadow and went off to do that. There was still an awful lot to do – over half the quarter acre meadow. I took the brush cutter and worked on the far end scrub line. Mid morning cake break I had done this about three years ago back to the fence, but it had encroached quite a bit. I couldn’t really see the fence, but there was grass growing underneath the bramble so definitely worth knocking back. About half way along was a large willow that also protruded right into the grassland, so I enlisted the help of Rene to cut that back. Delicious chocolate cake from Louise at the mid morning break.
