Books by Karen Lord 0 ▲ Interdependent Thoughts 1 hour ago · Writing · hide · 0 comments Earlier this week I read We Will Rise Again, a selection of short sf hopepunk stories and accompanying essays centered on civil disobedience, resistance, and protest. It was edited by Annalee Newitz, Malka Older, both authors whose work I have very much enjoyed, and Karen Lord, a name I didn’t remember coming across before. Based on my appreciation for the works I read of the editors I picked up this collection, and wasn’t disappointed. Searching for Karen Lord’s name in my notes, I found that I should have a print edition of her 2013 novel The Best of All Possible Worlds. At first I couldn’t find it. Then I did, tucked away at the end of a shelf. It’s a paperback version from early 2014, which I found and bought in Copenhagens best SF book store, Fantask, during a short stay there in July 2014. Then it sat unread on my shelves for 12 years, until I sat down yesterday and finally read it.
