people list pitfalls

This section of Drew's Weird Little Guys of FOSS caught my eye: Will you write a “cool people” list, too? No. Who’s on the list or off the list will introduce weird social dynamics, and risks creating a kind of popularity contest. Also, if I published a list like that, it would paint a target on the backs of everyone on the list for harassment or worse. While Drew does provides this disclaimer: Don’t harass these people! Don’t engage with them at all. Couldn't his reasoning for not writing a "cool people" list above apply to any other list of people he could write, including the "weird people" list that he wrote?
