Parade by Rachel Cusk

Book title: Parade Author: Rachel Cusk Rating: 2/5 Not for me. I understand what Cusk is doing, to a degree. I struggled to stay awake through parts of it, so maybe don't read Parade while groggy on the morning train. I nearly fell asleep twice. The Diver was the only chapter that worked for me. In the rest, Cusk tried too hard. It felt pretentious, and I fucking hate books that feel pretentious. Mann and the interchangeable Gs are concepts cosplaying as characters, but not characters. It also means I couldn't give a shit about any of them. There are interesting ideas underneath it all. The way Cusk chose to present them just did absolutely nothing for me.
