Snow Squall Over the Channels

A stitched black and white aerial photograph from Duncan Rawlinson, made as a snow squall crossed the 1000 Islands. Broken sheets of ice and dark channels of open water divide the frame, with snow-covered islands and their cottages strung through the middle distance. The nearest islands read in full detail while the far shore dissolves into the falling snow. The river’s currents keep the widest channels open and almost black against the white.
