Reading notes: 'An Anthology of Our Extraordinary Earth'

By Cally Oldershaw. This is a DK Children's Anthology, but partway through, I largely forgot that it is supposed to be a children's book. I'm allowed to learn things and enjoy wonderful photographs, right? Do all the other adults secretly already know all about giant caves, karst, tornado mechanics, and manganese nodules? This is absolutely a great book for kids to read (or to read with them), but by any reasonable metric I can think of, it's the best thing I've ever read about earth science. I'm sorely tempted to put this in my top 100, and might eventually do so.
