Season Of Scenery 2026 (2)! 0 ▲ Just Needs Varnish! 2 hours ago · 7 min read1300 words · Life · hide · 0 comments I’ve now finished the second batch of items I wanted to get done during the Season of Scenery community painting challenge and this time it’s all railway-themed stuff. I did show a couple of scratchbuilt items that I’d started in the last post and some of you guessed they were a level crossing and a bridge, so the fact that there’s a railway theme to this post shouldn’t come as a surprise! I realised I needed some railway-themed scenery back in 1996 when I started working on my Boxer Rebellion armies. The Allied forces operating in China in 1900 made use of the railway in a failed bid to reach the Peking Legations, so having some railway track, a steam locomotive and some rolling stock would mean I could create a few scenarios for that conflict. I struggled to get what I needed and in the end I converted a Thomas The Tank Engine toy locomotive, scratchbuilt some wagons and glued some 00 gauge track to lengths of card (as shown in the picture above).
