Review: Saidan – Fangdriller: Scars Beneath Memory’s Wrist

Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 19th June 2026 If you wanted me to guess where Japan-inspired horror black metal duo Saidan were from, I’d have guessed a thousand places before Nashville, Tennessee but I guess there’s more than country hiding in them there parts. ‘Fangdriller: Scars Beeath Memory’s Wrist’ is the band’s fourth full length record, and I heard a lot of buzz about it when it first came out from all the right people. The aesthetic looks incredible, and the music contained within isn’t as straightforward as it seems on the surface. ‘Fangdriller…’ is out now through Avantgarde Music. Opener ‘Razorblade Temptation’ is so anthemic, a mix of almost symphonic black metal and melodeath with some really upbeat melodies in there too.
