55. Time Passages.

When I turned 54 last year, I had some thoughts about my then-new age. I had no real pattern to how my thoughts flowed, though some managed to lead from one into another. For my 55th birthday on Sunday 09-13, I have fewer thoughts than last year, but I have something of a theme this time. Let’s start off by checking out an album cover from almost 50 years ago: Al Stewart, of 1976’s “Year Of The Cat” fame, released the above in 1978 as a follow-up. Its title track received decent airplay, but not to the extent of his earlier hit, hence why Al Stewart is often thought of as a one-hit wonder. The album cover was designed by the famed art group Hipgnosis in a style that would later on be called “glitch art”. The actual song “Time Passages” is about driving home for Christmas while contemplating the year that is about to end1. Any thoughts of Christmas are far too early to contemplate, never mind what you may see on display at your neighborhood Costco. Nonetheless, the song title popped…
