Hi all! I’ve spent a good portion of a very rainy weekend playing Euro games, namely Entropy followed by Carl v Linné followed by the upcoming Forestry expansion. Not a bad weekend! Right now, I’m playing the latter on repeat, both for eventually writing about it and trying to come up with a solo variant where one can use the main infestation module. Sadly the expansion doesn’t come with an official solo mode for that particular module. I’m already quite happy with what I have so far and am mostly tweaking for balance, but still needs lots of testing. As I was playing Forestry, I was thinking: what separates a “good” Euro from a solid but ultimately forgettable Euro? That’s of course highly subjective. There is the whole concept of JASE (=just another soulless Euro) but in my head I’m rather thinking of it as Just Another Solid Euro. There are so many Euros coming out nowadays that are perfectly fine, well crafted, well produced, but just don’t stick around for long. Whenever I play…
