The 60th Anniversary of the TV Series The Green Hornet

The 1960s saw a rise in nostalgia for media from the 1930s and 1940s, including everything from Old Time Radio to pulp magazines to movie serials to comic books. It was then only natural that there would be a television adaptation of the popular radio show The Green Hornet. The show starred Van Williams as Britt Reid and his alter ego The Green Hornet and Bruce Lee as Britt Reid's valet and partner in fighting crime Kato. It debuted sixty years ago today, on Friday, September 9, 1966.The Green Hornet centred on Britt Reid (Van Williams), a millionaire playboy and publisher of The Daily Sentinel, who also happened to fight crime as the masked Green Hornet. Kato (Bruce Lee) was his valet, chauffeur, and partner when it came to fighting crime. In their fight against evil, The Green Hornet and Kato utilized a specially modified, weapons laden Chrysler Imperial called "Black Beauty."
