Last week I happened upon a video about Nålebinding, an ancient Norse way of creating fabric with wool yarn. I immediately felt the pull to create something with this technique. I grabbed some yarn that was 75 percent wool and it obviously wasn’t suitable. You have to felt yarn for it and felting only really works with pure wool. So I ordered some cheap wool online and today I started playing. I made some stitches, got a feeling for it. Made errors, started over and then, all of a sudden, everything clicked. It felt like doing something I had been doing for a long time. And the stitches look so gorgeous too. I love this craft. I love this simple new to me way of creating something with my favourite material. After knitting, crochet, embroidery and punch needling, I love to have this skill to add to my yarny crafts 🙂 If you would like to try this craft too, here is the video I followed.
