I’ve been running this site for a long time and the bulk of content has been about something I generally love—computers. Even covering the changes in the tech industry, I remain optimistic that tech will get better and with all the silly, gimmicky things, we’ll also have advances that we can enjoy. Unfortunately, there are large swaths of rich, powerful men in the industry that want to use technology against “normal” people. Their behavior is emboldening others or normalizing things like mass-surveillance, racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia. I’ve had a lot of thoughts on my mind and while I don’t have solutions for these complex issues, I think there have been some instances where our little corner of the tech space has missed the mark and there’s not much coverage. A few weeks ago, there was controversy over MacStories resuming posting on X after leaving due to concerns with the direction that it was headed in 2022.
