Bicycles (and tricycles) are such efficient machines it is very hard to understand why more people aren’t using them for simple little journeys. I’m not saying everyone needs a cargo bike, but any trip within 5km ought to be fine. Of course I understand the problems. Some times and some places it is too hot or too wet or too cold, but mostly it isn’t. Car and van and truck drivers DO want to kill us. Cities are in thrall to the murderers and unenlightened shopkeepers, so they fail to build safe infrastructure. But build it, and they will come.
