Calico arrogance

The latest garden encounter. The robin sounds the alarm call. As I lean out the upstairs window, I spot a cat at the end of the garden, close to the birds’ feeders. I catch her attention and expect her to bolt like all other neighbourhood cats do. She doesn’t. I reach the garden, quite sure the cat’s gone. Wrong again. And so a game of cat and human starts, where I try to shoo her away, and she hisses and growls. ‘You’ve met your match’, I think to myself as I barely graze her beautiful fur. More hisses. Her tail like a duster, and visibly nervous, she stubbornly takes a walk in the garden. Then rests for a while, unfazed by my presence, until she decides it’s time to go.
