Athens lives again! After the deadness of august, the shops, bars, and restaurants have reopened, the traffic is back and the metro is full. It was nice if a little eerie while it lasted. I have been jonesing for my new barber to reopen to rid myself of my enormous hair that I’ve been begrudgingly growing all month so I took the hot and full train to exarcheia for a trim. Unfortunately my new barber remains closed, and my previous barber had a giant and hairy queue of people suffering my same predicament. this faber book of reportage was recommended by ian hislop and it’s engrossing and 1000 pages long and I will be reading it for some time Thus I was pleased to find my favourite bar open at 4pm on a friday afternoon nearby so I plonked myself down with my new (fantastic, enormous) book and a few Nymfi beers and whiled away a couple of extremely pleasant hours, ostensibly to wait for an open chair at the barbers but alas I eventually returned home happy but with even longer hair than…
