Pointless comment sections 0 ▲ Kali Kambo 1 hour ago · Tech · hide · 0 comments On Instagram, people who are influencers or some kind of life coach often say “Post [single word] in the comments and I’ll send you my [template, guide, handbook, discount].” They’re using the comment section as a way to distribute their content or offer instead of a place for conversation. An alternative could be that they ask people to DM them. But more comments = more engagement = wider reach for the post. So asking people to leave comments is more beneficial to the creator than asking for DMs. But I really don’t like that they’re using comments as notifications. There are plenty of times where I see a video and think, Oh there will be good discussion around this. I see a high number of comments, and I think, Cool, I want to read what people are saying.
