Brace yourself for more late Fifties content! Way in the back of her 1960 anthology The Year's Best S-F: 5th Annual Edition, Judith Merril presents a three-page alphabetical list of honorable mentions, stories printed in 1959 she thinks worthy of note that for whatever reason didn't actually make it into the anthology. In July we sampled the "G" authors and today we cut off a slice of "H"s, of which there are eight. Today's piece of H pie will be four authors thick, covering W. T. Haggert, some joker who has only two stories listed at isfdb (Merril liked both of them); Jim Harmon, who in 1964 published a novel called Sex Burns Like Fire (tell your doctor if this is the case) and has three or four dozen stories listed at isfdb; Laurence M. Janifer, whose Merril-approved story appeared under the pen name "Larry M. Harris" (sometimes the list of ingredients on your pie's wrapping is deceptive); and Harry Harrison of Slippery Jim diGriz, soylent, Deathworld and West of Eden fame.Here find…
