In the years since that 2021 mention of Boston’s Storrow Drive, we’ve seen a reduction in the number of crashes, though the problem is far from solved. Boston.com has details on what’s changed, including improved signage. This past Tuesday, Boston’s biggest moving day1, I ran alongside Storrow Drive. While I didn’t manage to catch another Storrowing in the wild, I did see a near-miss. Right past the eastern entrance to the roadway, there was a large box truck pulled over, pre-bridges. I believe the driver was waiting for assistance in backing out. I wonder how he managed to catch himself after entering the road, but before running into a bridge. That’s a pretty lucky day, all things considered. Also, an update!
