Carlisle to Settle, Flowerpots and a Postbox Topper.

While up in the Lake District on holiday spouse and I took a ride on the Settle–Carlisle line. It’s “one of the world’s most scenic railway journeys” and runs across regions of the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines. We travelled on one of the regular passenger trains along the route. We got a table seat so were both by the window. We looked out for them but neither Bill Nighy nor Michael Portillo were anywhere to be seen. The weather was good - blue skies, fluffy clouds and clear. As the windows cannot be opened picture taking was a case of holding the phone to the window and snapping away at the passing scenary. The flowerpot ’tog on the platform at Horton in Ribbleside turned out to be a pioneer from Settle. The towns annual Flower Pot Festival was taking place on the day we visited.
