I know some incredibly successful friends who have started writing blogs every day. They enjoy the process, but don’t see enough results. When they stop, they do so with the intention of writing somewhere else with greater visibility (e.g., social media, Substack, etc.) or with less effort (e.g., not just typing it out themselves). That works for a brief time. Eventually, they stop writing or publishing anything at all. My theory is this: when they write every day at their blog, they create and amplify creative energy which frees them up to make greater plans. When they stop writing every day at their blog, they eventually run out of creative energy, so they don’t have bandwidth to keep going. Posting an idea to social media takes more activation energy than writing a blog post. Writing a blog post is practice, but posting to social media is performance.
