Apple Pay Express is the feature of Apple Pay where you can pay for your commute by just holding your iPhone or Apple Watch to the card reader. There's no need to unlock your phone or watch, and the payment will just go through. And this feature is finally here in Singapore, where I live. Okay, here in some public transportation. This feature is only available for payment for subway trains (known locally as MRT) across the country, and light rails (or LRT), available in three towns. Many public-transport commutes in Singapore also include a bus ride, and only some buses are equipped with card readers that can do Apple Pay Express. So Face IDs (or Touch IDs) are still required on a daily basis. The full roll-up, according to the Straits Times article, is targeted for end of 2027. ~ Link: MRT and LRT Gantries Now Accept Apple Pay Express – No Authentication Needed, by Aqil Hamzah, Straits Times
