Friday Varia and Quick Hits

After a day of storms, the weather seems to have settled down here on the northern plains and it looks like we might actually have a nice weekend. I’m as shocked as anyone. It’s the opening week of college football season with the Buckeyes favored by 50.5 over Ball State. My mighty Spiders are favored by a couple of touchdowns over Howard. The Phillies get the Braves at home for a massive late season series. The F1 circus is in Italy for the annual Monza (low) drag race. Andy Ruiz returns against someone called Damian Knyba tonight. The big fight though is Katie Taylor’s swan song in Dublin. 80,000 tickets sold for Taylor’s final fight. Even if you’re not that into boxing, check out her ring walk (and stay for the show afterward)!
