Sandlot’s (you may know them as the Earth Defense Force developer) fantasy action game plays like someone got paid by the novelty Wiimote gimmick: there’s a lot of pointing at the screen and swishing a cursor around when a button or two could have easily done a better job. It’s an unwelcome reminder of the Wii’s lowest lows, and not something I can completely avoid no matter how much I’d like to. Even though there’s an alternative Controller Pro scheme available it’s more of an official Wiimote emulation service than anything else, the right stick crudely standing in for standard wrist movements, cursor still present. I wish I could tell you that this poor introduction soon fades into nothing more than a bad memory, but in truth it’s just the first of an astonishingly wide range of issues.
