Mario 101: Part Eight

Yes, I’ve decided to give Mario 101 an extra life: fifteen more bits that you maybe didn’t know about the Super Mario series and which might make you think a little differently about these games. On the whole, the original project ended up being fairly successful. I wanted something that could include bits that I didn’t think merited their own post as well as stuff that could point readers back towards what I’ve already written. Not only did it do that, but even more importantly, people seem to be engaging with it. And thanks in part to my thread on Bluesky, Mario 101 has continued to attract new readers long beyond the shelf life of a typical post on this site. I know I mentioned this toward the end of the original project, but having 101 items was always an arbitrary goal. In the last section especially, I fudged it with extra bits, and even then a whole lot of ideas ended up on the cutting room floor. Now it’s been long enough that I feel like I can go back and reconstitute these…
