Next week Apple will likely introduce a foldable iPhone. For a long time I was pretty sure I will get one. I use my phone mostly for reading, but cannot stand reading books on it. On the other hand the iPad mini, which is roughly the form factor of the foldable, is exactly the size I want for books. Finally a new form factor other smartphone makers have already been supporting for eight years and the first time in five or six years a phone would have a new feature I care about. The last time - after years of repeating it - I said "if Apple releases X I will pre-order" was when I was hoping for a 15" MacBook Air. I love the Air for its weight and build quality, but I am more of a 15" screen enjoyer. It nicely fits two editor panes next to each other, which is a requirement for me to do any serious work. And I did exactly that. But for the iPhone Fold I am honestly questioning if I see it through. Not because of any of the obvious shortcomings it will have. The camera will be worse,…
