Small goals are underwhelming and boring. Big goals are overwhelming and unrealistic. If you focus on either, you will get stuck. The key to making something is to figure out just the right amount of whelm for you. It might mean inflating a small goal to be slightly uncomfortable, or breaking down a big goal into small projects you can take on one at a time. For the most part, it means finding your work’s right size. From my experience: it’s an art, not a science. Most of it takes place in your head.
