UA 5490.

I’m onboard United flight 5490 from Tucson to Chicago/O’Hare. From there I’ll jump on flight 1776, appropriately numbered as I’ll be flying to Philadelphia. From there, I’m off into the woods to the south of Philly on Friday morning. I’m looking forward to going completely off-grid. For this flight I’ve completely turned off my iPhone 16 Pro. The battery in this phone, which is less than two years old, is starting to show its age and I’m already at 31%. It’s not even lunch time yet. There’s a reason I still use a printed boarding pass for my flights. There’s no battery in paper. Last year during my off-grid weekend I doubled down on a more analog approach to life in general, and this approach has held pretty tight since then. I love my Field Notes notebook, I journal most mornings in a paper journal, and I find my use of Linux to be more engaging with technology, and less focused on the consumption of nonsense via technology.
