Somehow stumbled on to my new favourite artist, Carlijn Kingma, who does these huge and insanely intricate hand-drawn econo-political allegory… things? De machinerie van de volkshuisvesting (or, The Machinery of Housing), Kingma, 2025 Well worth clicking through to her site and checking them out closely; you’ve got to see the detail to really appreciate the work. I’ve taken to following a bunch of feeds in an effort to get myself at least vaguely abreast of contemporary art, but I guess I must be a philistine, because well over 80% of it looks like half-hearted amateur trash to me? But every now and again something glorious or beautiful or deeply weird pops up.
