The last film I watched in the theatres: Quezon

Apart from the fact that he was in the 20-peso bill and he’s the second president of the Philippines, I don’t really know much about Manuel L. Quezon. So, when I heard that the third movie of the Bayaniverse was about MLQ, I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t really know him so much as a bayani, and this film is a great way to know the man who lead the Philippines during the US occupation. I watched the film with my mom, who slept through 25% of it. I thought she might be interested since she graduated from MLQU, but fatigue seems stronger than her bond with her alma mater. What I felt towards the film is uneasy. It’s not uncommon to view politicians as, you know, scoundrels, but in my head, I’ve thought they might have more dignity than the ones we have now. But alas, they were no better. When I talked to one of my best friends about it, he wasn’t surprised. You know why? Because he knows history; I didn’t. I hated the history subject back in school.
