I had a full-on autistic shutdown episode yesterday from overstimulation — but not the sensory kind. It was very annoying. Nothing bad set it off. If anything, I’d had great experiences the night before with my D&D game, and had an interesting meeting with the folks running a local writing group around lunchtime that really got me excited and wanting to work on the possibilities. Very much good things. But a few hours later I found myself making more and more typos. It began to feel like someone was pushing my eyelids down and wrapping my brain in cotton. From the outside, it probably looked like I slowly stopped working, or was falling asleep, but I wasn’t. Internally, I was trying to get my body to do things. I could, but slowly. There was a looooooooooooooong lag and a lot more effort between wanting to do something, and actually doing it. It was like the link between my body and my mind was being carried out by snailmail.
